A relaxation technique is any method, process, procedure or activity that helps a person to relax; to attain a state of increased calmness; or otherwise reduce levels of pain, anxiety, stress or anger. Mindfulness- based cognitive therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that was originally created as a relapse prevention treatment for depression. Mindfulness and mindfulness meditation focus on becoming aware of all incoming thoughts and feelings and accepting them, but not attaching or reacting to them.
